Fiji is ideally located in the tropics of the southern hemisphere. It lies on the 180 Meridian where the dawning of each new day occurs. Over 300 islands make the Fiji group of islands with a total land area of just 18,272 square kilometers. Of the 300 islands, humans inhabit only 100 or so islands and the rest are left as nature reserves. The two major islands in the group are known as Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Almost 80 percent of the population lives on these two islands. Still the majority of the population lives in the rural areas and the outer islands. Only about 40 percent of the population lives in urban areas. The following are links to tables put together using data from Censuses, Surveys and other data sources. The data highlights the population distribution of different ethnic groups, with Solomon Islanders having the largest representation at 2,956 individuals, followed by Tuvaluans at 1,894, I-Kiribati at 1,549, and Tongans at 844. This suggests that Solomon Islanders form the most significant ethnic group in this dataset, potentially indicating a larger presence or higher migration rate compared to the other groups. The relatively high number of Tuvaluans also reflects a notable diaspora, potentially driven by factors like climate change, economic opportunities, or historical migration patterns.

The data reveals a notable difference in the average ages between rural and urban areas in Fiji, particularly when comparing the Indo-Fijian and Itaukei populations. In rural areas, both Indo-Fijians and Itaukei have similar average ages, 27.7 and 27.9 respectively, with a slightly higher average age for the total population at 30.8. In contrast, urban areas show a different trend, with both Indo-Fijians and Itaukei having a higher average age of 30.1, which surpasses the total urban average age of 29.2.
